Rotax Max Grand Finals Monday Report
Greetings from Italy!
Most drivers have completed their registration at the 2008 Rotax Max Grand Finals at the La Conca International Karting Circuit! Tomorrow the drivers and mechanics will get their hands on their karts and start setting up for the first on-track action on Wednesday.
Some points of interest for the drivers at the grand finals are the new clutches fitted to all the karts and the colder than expected weather (as low as 2 degrees celcius). Check out the first pictures here, and follow the discussions in the forums here.
Ardigo Takes 2nd Karting World Championship
Italian driver Marco Ardigo (TonyKart/Vortex/B'stone) has been crowned the 2008 CIK-FIA Karting World Champion. This makes it two in a row for the Italian, and three in a row for TonyKart and Vortex. The last time a driver has won two Karting World Championships in a row was Mike Wilson in the late '80s!

Niki Laa Shines in Austria
Press Release: The third round of the national Rotax championship near Graz in Austria’s south has seen the Intrepid Force Rotax team take the honours over the weekend, as 14 year-old Niki Laa secured 1st place in Senior Max.
Gilbert misses the cut in Angerville
Malaysian driver Mitchell Gilbert took part in the WSK series again, this time in Angerville, France. He was more consistently on the pace this time around in the KF3 category and was on the pace to make it to the final. After the heats he was placed in 31st, meaning he only just missed out on a direct road to the finals by 3 positions. Starting from 3rd in the second chance heat he had trouble on the first lap and was forced to charge back up from well down the field. He made it back up to 10th place, but with only the top 6 making it through to the final Mitch is now looking on to the next round on the 8th-10th of May in Lonato, Italy.

The first round of the Rotax Euro Challenge was held at the Sologne Karting Circuit in Salbris, France on March 26-30. Mike Joossens took the win on his Kombi Kart in the Seniors in wet conditions followed by Christopher Lock.
Intrepid Force Rotax Sign Daniel Rochford
Australian driver Daniel Rochford will race alongside Intrepid Force Rotax teammates Imre Birizdo of Hungary and Austria’s Kevin Reichard in Senior max this year at the Rotax Euro Challenge.
