Ameya, Aditya, and Rayomand |
In the senior category Aditya Patel did everything he had to do to take the championship. In the pre-final he was able to nab the lead during the first lap despite having a bit of an off-track excursion in the process. He was closely followed by Ameya Walawalkar, with Rayomand Banajee in 3rd.
In the final Aditya was on pole and was able to keep the lead at the start and through the race despite a few attempts from Ameya to overtake along the main straights. Aditya’s different choice of gearing meant that he was fast in the twisty bits but slow down the main straight which provided for some interesting racing. After half distance the gap grew to about 2 seconds and remained so to the end of the race. Aditya clinched the championship by just half a point!
In the Junior category Vishnu Prasad had troubles during the weekend bending a stub axle which put him to the back of the grid allowing Chittesh Mandody to take control by winning the pre-final, final and the championship.
In the cadet category Arjun Maini and Shashank Ravi Shankar got a little bit too close and took themselves out of the running while Hruv Mohite picked up the pieces and went on to victory.
